MULTIMEDIA REPORTER:

We are looking for a dynamic on air and multimedia storyteller.  At WPSD LOCAL 6, our reporters tell emotional stories – focused on real people.  Our reporters are team players, who enterprise, shoot, and edit their own stories, make contacts and become a part of the community.  Everyone on our team produces material for all our platforms – on air, online and mobile.

This position will be based in our Southern Illinois Newsroom in Marion, Illinois.  Qualified candidates will have a four-year degree in journalism or a related field and at least two years reporting experience.

MASTER/PRODUCTION OPERATOR:

WPSD LOCAL 6 has an immediate opening for a part-time Master/Production Operator.  Responsibilities include airing programs and inserting commercials using Master Control automation system which controls playback of server-based material. Will understand the manual operation of all Master Control equipment in the event of an Automation system failure.  Ingests commercial, promotional, public service, and programming material into server. Operates PC-based program to control Satellite Dishes/Receivers. Serves as studio floor director during newscasts and manages studio equipment.  Assists in maintaining studio facility.

High school diploma or GED required.  Broadcasting or production experience, familiarity with video and audio equipment, personal computers, or any technology related equipment is preferred.  Must be able to work under stressful situations.

GENERAL SALES MANAGER:

WPSD LOCAL 6, the family owned NBC affiliate in Paducah, Kentucky, (Paducah-Cape Girardeau-Harrisburg Market #83) seeks an experienced General Sales Manager.   You must possess an exceptional record of sales success and be a strong leader and motivator.  You must have skills in budgeting, forecasting, managing inventory, generating revenue on multiple platforms, and recruiting and training talented sales people.  This is an opportunity to lead a team at a powerhouse station – and newspaper.*

*Our GSM will also lead the sales team at The Paducah Sun.

Responsibilities include leading an experienced sales tem to achieve company goals on all sales platforms (TV, digital, newspaper, magazine; develop, implement, and communicate sales strategies and action plans; manage inventory and rates; create and manage non-traditional revenue and new business projects; work with National Sales manager and rep firm to set goals and objectives; and work with the General Manager and other department heads to accomplish station and newspaper objectives.

Candidates must possess strong leadership, motivational, and sales skills with a proven track record of success; must have the ability to price, forecast, budget, and execute a clear vision/plan; possess a familiarity with our partners and Doyle & Associates and Marshall Marketing; be proficient in Microsoft Office products. A college degree or equivalent experience with three years broadcast sales management experience is preferred along with a documented track record of success in growing established accounts, new business, digital and social media, newspaper, and magazine sales.

SPORTS REPORTER/PHOTOGRAHPER:

WPSD-TV is looking to fill its sports reporter/photographer position with someone who is ready to immerse themselves in local sports. This is not a job for those that want to follow the ball.  We want a sports journalist that will tell unique “people stories” that will connect on an emotional level.  One year experience as a sports reporter/photographer required.  Four-year related degree preferred.

NEWS ASSOCIATE PRODUCER:

WPSD LOCAL 6, the NBC affiliate in the 82nd DMA, has an opening for a news associate producer.  You are required to research, write, and edit local, regional, and national news stories.  You will also perform associated production duties during newscasts.  You must conform to the highest journalistic standards and be able to meet deadlines.  Excellent writing, grammar skills, the ability to react to changing news and program situations, and to understand last-moment instructions from newscast directors and producers are essential.  Must be familiar with basic computer operations, video editing experience preferred.  This is an entry level position for those wanting to become a television reporter or producer.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

WPSD has periodic openings for student internships in various departments. The student must receive academic credit for the internship and have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours.
