Livingston Central celebrates All “A” Classic Softball Championship
To say it was a fun bus ride from Owensboro back to Smithland for Livingston Central’s softball team this afternoon, would probably be an understatement. The Cardinals brought home plenty of hardware from the All “A” Classic State Softball Tournament, including the championship trophy.
Livingston Central outscored their six opponents by a total of seventy-seven to one during the All “A”, including a 10-0 win over Holy Cross in the title game. The Cardinals’ Caitlin Merritt was named the tournament MVP, and was joined by Hannah Leidecker, Hailee Lampley, Tiffany Padon, and Ashley Wright on the all-tournament team.
When the Cardinals arrived back home around five o’clock Sunday evening, they were escorted by police to the high school where family and friends threw a celebration rally.
Livingston Central has ten more games remaining in the regular season, starting with Lyon County on Tuesday.
