‘The Next Door’ robbed in Martin, police investigating

Officers from the Martin Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that happened on Monday morning.

It happened at “The Next Door” at 120 Hurt Street at approximately 8:51 am on April 28th. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Don Traywick, who said that an unidentified person came in to the store and robbed the cash drawer at gun point. He described the offender as a dark-skinned male, possibly in his twenties, wearing a dark blue or black hoodie with a single gray stripe on the sleeve. He also said the subject was slender in build, and stood at approximately 6’0″ tall. Traywick also said the suspect was wearing a dark mask.

The victim said the subject entered the store through the front door, walked up to the counter, pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. He ordered Traywick to open the cash drawer, and he then took all of the paper currency from it. He also took 10 watermelon wraps from the counter and exited the store through the front door. He stole approximately $62.00 in cash.

The investigation is ongoing.
