Tyndall’s staff at Tennessee has familiar look
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall’s staff will include many of the same people he worked with at Southern Mississippi.
Tyndall formally announced a staff Wednesday that includes Al Pinkins, Adam Howard and Chris Shumate as assistants, Jareem Dowling as director of player development, Justin Phelps as director of basketball operations and Todd Moyer as strength and conditioning coach. Athletic trainer Chad Newman returns for his 20th season at Tennessee.
Pinkins spent the last three years at Mississippi, though he and Tyndall had worked together as Middle Tennessee assistants from 2003-06. Howard, Shumate, Dowling, and Phelps were part of Tyndall’s staff at Southern Mississippi.
Tyndall said last week that he was hiring Pinkins and bringing his Southern Mississippi assistants with him, but the university officially announced the staff selections Wednesday.
