Prohm adds another to Murray State’s 2014 signing class

Murray State men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm announced the signing of GerVaughn “Gee” McGhee.

McGhee, a 6-4 guard, will be a junior with the Racers as a transfer from the University of Chattanooga. He will have two seasons to play for Murray State beginning with the 2015-16 season.

“We’re very happy to have Gee join the Racer Family,” Prohm said. “He is a versatile perimeter player that stats in a lot of different areas. He’ll benefit from the sit-out year, as we will having him with us. I look forward to him playing in the 2015-16 season.”

Out of Baton Rouge, La., McGhee played in 64 games and made the same number of starts for the Mocs in his two seasons. He scored 715 points for an 11.1 per game average.

He was a Southern Conference All-Freshman Team selection in the 2012-13 season and had a high scoring game of 24 points against Elon.

In the 2013-14 season as a sophomore, he scored 10 points per game and grabbed 4.8 rebounds. His 90 assists were tops on the team and his 40 steals tied for the team lead. He had three double-double games including a 16-point/15 rebound effort against Western Carolina. He also had a game against Maine with 17 points and 10 assists.

McGhee played his high school ball at Redemptorist where he won 99 games in four seasons. He averaged 29.2 points per game as a senior in the 2011-12 season.
