Robinson headed to Browns as undrafted free agent
After three days of pomp and circumstance, 256 college football players heard their names called during the NFL Draft. Troy’s all time leading passer, and Paducah native Corey Robinson was not one of them. But shortly after the draft ended– Robinson announced he’s going to Cleveland as an undrafted free agent.
Robinson, the 45th ranked quarterback in the draft by ESPN, had offers from the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Jets, and Cleveland.
He knows heading to the Browns there will be a quarterback battle, and that’s what he wants to be apart of. In fact, it was Cleveland’s quarterback coach Dowell Loggains who convinced Robinson that if he came to the Browns, he would have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot.
When it’s all said and done, Robinson is just glad this whole process is over with.
“It’s so stressful,” Robinson admitted afterwards. “It’s one of the most stressful days of my life, I don’t want to ever do it again. I’m glad this is over with, and now we’ll get back to football. I know I’m going to be ready to go when I get there, and hopefully I can shine. Just them giving me this opportunity, I know they’re not going to regret it.”
