Man smokes marijuana while driving, arrested for possession of numerous drugs

A Graves County man was arrested after being spotted smoking marijuana while driving home.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reports that deputies were dispatched on the call of a driver smoking marijuana on KY1890, near Perry Street just south of Mayfield, Kentucky. Drug Division detectives arrived at the scene to conduct a field interview when they found the car in question parked at a house on Perry Drive.

A search warrant was obtained on the vehicle and the house. During the search, detectives found approximately 30 oxycodone tablets in a cigarette package, a small amount of marijuana, hydrocodone and amphetamine tablets, and a large amount of cash.

25 year-old Jason Loyd was charged with trafficking controlled substance in the first degree greater than 10 dosage units, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and prescription substances not in proper containers.

Sakal, a K9 unit with the Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the search of the house.
