Kidston helps Louisville get past Kansas 6-3
Anthony Kidston pitched seven solid innings and Louisville used a three-run fourth to help get past Kansas 6-3 in an NCAA regional game Saturday.
The Cardinals (47-15) took a 2-0 lead through three innings, and Corey Ray led off the third with a double. He scored on an RBI single by Sutton Whiting, who stole second and third and scored with two outs on Kyle Gibson’s single.
Kansas (35-25) loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Louisville closer Nick Burdi walked in a run, but got Tucker Tharp to fly out to end the game.
Kidston gave up two runs while striking out six and walking five. Louisville’s bullpen has only pitched three innings between three pitchers in its first two games of the regional.
Kansas will play Kentucky in an elimination game Sunday, and the winner will play the Cardinals in the regional final.
