Heating assistance program to start soon in western Kentucky

The weather is getting cooler and that means families will have to start heating their homes.

To help with the cost of keeping a home warm, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, is starting up again in western Kentucky.

West Kentucky Allied Services, Inc. will begin taking applications for heating assistance in November.

Applications are taken alphabetically by last name. The schedule is:

  • Nov. 5 B
  • Nov. 6 B
  • Nov. 9 C
  • Nov. 10 C
  • Nov. 11 Veteran’s Day
  • Nov. 12 D, E
  • Nov. 13 F
  • Nov. 16 G
  • Nov. 17 H
  • Nov. 18 H
  • Nov. 19 I,J
  • Nov. 20 K
  • Nov. 23 L
  • Nov. 24 M
  • Nov. 30 M
  • Dec. 1  N
  • Dec. 2 O,P
  • Dec. 3 Q,R
  • Dec. 4 S
  • Dec. 7 S
  • Dec. 8 T
  • Dec. 9 U,V,W
  • Dec. 10 X,Y,Z
  • Dec. 11 open

Applications must bring these items with them when they apply:

  • Most recent heating bill or rent receipt if living in public housing.
  • Proof of Social Security Number or Permanent Resident card for each member in the house
  • Proof of income for every member that has income.
