Crash injures two people, man arrested for driving under the influence

Saturday afternoon, Graves County deputies responded to the intersection of Cairo Road and Coleman Road to the report of a two vehicle collision with injuries.

Upon arrival, the investigation showed 80 year-old Shirley Cavanaugh was operating a 1994 Dodge passenger car on Coleman Road.  Mrs. Cavanaugh failed to stop at the intersection of Coleman and Cairo, and struck a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Timothy Hutcheson, 31, of Paducah.  This was assessed by physical evidence at the scene and independent witness statements.

Hutcheson and Cavanaugh were both taken to Baptist Health for possible non-life threatening injuries.  Mr. Hutcheson was suspected to be under the influence at the time of the collision.  Mr. Hutcheson was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs, operating on a suspended/revoked driver’s license and failure to produce an insurance card.
