Carbondale man faces reckless homicide charges after hitting bicyclist

A Carbondale man has been charged with reckless homicide after he hit a bicyclist.

Carbondale police say on November 14th, they responded to a crash in the area of East Walnut Street and South Bigler Road.

Officers say a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Seth Loyd.

The victim was taken to a Carbondale hospital and was later transferred to a St. Louis, Missouri hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. The victim died on November 15th.

Loyd was not injured in the crash. He was arrested for Reckless Homicide and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail.

An investigation continues.
