University president taking over Chancellor role

SIU Carbondale President Randy Dunn is taking on more responsibilities.

On Tuesday, he announced he will assume duties as the school’s Chancellor while maintaining his role as the President.

Earlier this month interim Chancellor Dr. Paul Sarvela passed away.

Sarvela was appointed interim Chancellor this past summer after former Chancellor Rita Cheng left to become president of Northern Arizona University.

The university’s Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet on December 11th to discuss the search for a new Chancellor.
