Two arrested for drug use with children in house

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says a Sikeston man and woman are in custody following a narcotics investigation.

Detectives began an investigation of drug activity at a home in Sikeston and enough information was gathered to obtain a search warrant.

59 year-old James Woods and 33 year-old Alesha Gonzalez were found to be in possession of a controlled substance when detectives arrived at the home.  Detectives found three small corner bags with a crystal substance believed to be meth. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located in plain view during the search of a bedroom.

Three children were inside the home at the time of the search and had access to the drugs and paraphernalia.

Woods is in the Scott County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.  Gonzalez is in custody in the Scott County Jail on $1,000 bond.
