Cave-In-Rock Ferry back open after high winds shut service down

UPDATE: The Cave-In-Rock Ferry is back in service.

EARLIER: The Cave-In-Rock Ferry will be closed Monday due to high winds on the Ohio River.

The ferry connects Crittenden County, Kentucky and Hardin County, Illinois.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the ferry will remain closed until winds drop to a safe speed. Monday’s forecast calls for winds gusting from 19-25 miles per hour for much of the day.

Todd says timely notice will be provided when the ferry is scheduled to reopen.
