Frattini sworn in as acting mayor of Herrin

The city of Herrin, Illinois has a new mayor.

Steve Frattini was sworn in by the city clerk after the council voted him in by an overwhelming majority. This comes after former mayor Vic Ritter resigned because of health issues.

“The circumstance by which this has come about tonight we are all regretful of,” Frattini said. “We wish Vic Ritter the best in his pursuit of better health and I think we all owe him a tremendous depth of gratitude.”

Frattini will serve as acting mayor until an election on April 17.
