Stores open to large crowds Thanksgiving night

The doors opened at Paducah’s Kohl’s at 6pm Thursday and people were standing in line starting at 4pm.

We’re used to seeing the holiday shopping hustle around Thanksgiving, but with major retailers like Kohl’s open on the holiday, it gives people like Chris Martin an extra day to shop.  “Want to save a little money,” he told us with a smile.

He was one of the first people in line taking advantage of the Thursday hours.  “This is my first time for Black Friday shopping and I just thought I would come out and see what it’s all about,” Martin said.

For Sara Sapp, splitting up the family is the key to successful shopping.  “That’s what we did when we ate Thanksgiving – was figure out where we were going so every body’s at a different store,” she said.

Sapp is taking one for the team.  If she had it her way, Christmas shopping would wait until Friday.

“I wish they would start Friday morning.  I don’t like the Thursday at all.”

Kohl’s will stay open through midnight Friday.  To view a schedule of other store hours for Thursday and Friday, click here.
