Demolition of Old Ledbetter Bridge complete

The last of the pier bases of the Old Ledbetter Bridge are gone.

On Friday, two explosions took out the two remaining bases.

Next up is the cleanup work. The demolition crew will use a crane to pull the remaining chunks of concrete from the bottom of the Tennessee River.

Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says that state fish and wildlife and environmental groups will review the video and procedures of the demolition to decide if an environmental remediation is necessary.
