8 pounds of marijuana found during drug bust, 2 people arrested

Paducah Police Department Drug and Vice Enforcement officers arrested two men and seized between $10,000-$12,000 in marijuana late Friday afternoon.

Detectives purchased a half-pound of marijuana from Gregory Hixon and minutes later marked police units stopped the vehicle he was driving at Freidman Lane and Hinkleville Road.  Hixon and his passenger, Anthony M. Bryant, were arrested.  At the time of his arrest, Bryant had a small amount of marijuana in the pocket of his coat.

Detectives continued their investigation and gathered enough evidence to obtain search warrants for Hixon and Bryant’s homes.

At Hixon’s home detectives found marijuana and other evidence of drug trafficking.  At Bryant’s home, officers found about eight pounds of marijuana and two handguns.  One of the handguns was reported stolen in September from a home on Clark’s River Road.

As officers were taking Hixon to jail, he told officers he had additional marijuana hidden in his underwear.

Hixon and Bryant were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.  Officers seized a total of 8.25 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of between $10,000 and $12,000.   Additional charges are pending.
