Gravel dumped after dump truck overturned

An overturned dump truck sent a man to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says the dump truck overturned on Lovelaceville Road at the intersection of Skylark Drive around 1:20 p.m.

The driver of the dump truck, 37-year-old Richard Beyer, was traveling south bound on Lovelaceville Road. As Beyer topped a hill, he saw a car was stopped in the road waiting for traffic to clear so she could make a left hand turn.

Beyer said he went into the ditch to avoid hitting the car and that when he exited the road, he struck the roadway culvert for Skylark Drive. That caused the dump truck to overturn onto its side and dump the gravel it was carrying.

Beyer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
