Southern Illinois woman gets 14 years for daughter’s death

Fourteen years, that’s how long a local woman will spend in prison for her 3-year-old daughter’s death.

24-year-old Karrae Starr was sentenced last week in Williamson County, Illinois.

Prosecutors say in 2008 she covered Bianca Starr’s mouth and nose with the intent to kill her.

Starr was convicted in 2010 of first degree murder, but the verdict was thrown out on appeal

Her retrial in October ended with a guilty verdict for involuntary manslaughter.
