Auburn redshirt freshman Jakell Mitchell shot and killed

UPDATE:  Police say they’ve arrested a 22-year-old man in the fatal shooting of Auburn University football player Jakell Mitchell. Auburn police say Markale Deandra Hart of Camp Hill, Alabama, has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with murder. Mitchell was shot early today at an off-campus apartment complex.

An Auburn University football player has been fatally shot. Police and news reports say freshman Jakell Mitchell was killed early today at an off-campus apartment complex where two former football players and another person were killed in a shooting in 2012.
    
Police say they are investigating and no one has been arrested.
    
Mitchell redshirted this season for the Auburn Tigers out of nearby Opelika High School. He was expected to contend for a starting spot next season at H-Back and tight end.
    
Mitchell missed his senior season at Opelika as he recovered from an ACL injury. He rushed for 392 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2013 as a junior.
