Lane closures scheduled for I-24 Ohio River Bridge

UPDATE: IDOT has decided to do some additional work near the I-24 Ohio River Bridge Tuesday evening.

Crews will be performing brief traffic stoppages for westbound traffic only starting about 11:30 p.m. Illinois State Police will start slowing traffic on the Kentucky side of the river to provide a break in traffic for work near the Metropolis exit.

The traffic stoppages should last about 10 to 15 minutes each and take place between 11:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Lane closures are expected on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be reducing traffic to one lane on the bridge starting at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Crews need the lane closures to perform some maintenance work.

Brief traffic stoppages are also scheduled between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
