TBI severing ties with the 24th Judicial District

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has suspended its investigation of the Holly Bobo case and severed ties with the 24th Judicial District.

According to a letter sent out by the TBI, the decision was made at the request of District Attorney General Matthew Stowe. The letter states that Stowe, “….repeatedly stated he wanted our Agency to suspend all activities in his district.”

TBI also said they will no longer investigate new cases in the 24th District.

Local 6 obtained a letter from Stowe to TBI Director Mark Gwyn. The letter, dated December 15th, stated that Stowe does not want TBI to, “…withdraw all of the financial, forensic, and other support that the TBI provides to local law enforcement officers in this District.”

TBI says Gwyn sent a letter to Stowe on Wednesday asking that the two meet with the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference to discuss TBI’s role in the 24th Judicial District.
