Two injured in weekend car crash

A Carbondale woman was flown to a St. Louis area hospital after being in a car crash.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says on Saturday, 36-year-old Meghan Romano and her passenger 36-year-old Brandon Saul, both of Carbondale, were traveling south bound on IL Route 151 when Romano swerved her car to avoid an animal.

Romano lost control of the car, left the road, and hit several trees.

Romano had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both Saul and Romano were taken to a local hospital for injuries.

Romano was later flown to a St. Louis area hospital. She was last reported in stable condition.

Saul’s injuries are non-life threatening.
