Family members arrested in domestic assault case

Three Bertrand, Missouri residents were arrested and charged with assault over the weekend.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department says Sunday evening a deputy was called to a domestic assault in progress.

When the deputy arrived, he was met by 31-year-old Margo Nicole Raithel who said she was assaulted by her brother, 26-year-old Darrel Eugene Wilkerson, and her mother, 50-year-old Evelyn Inez Vanwinkle.

Further investigation revealed that Raithel had also assaulted her mother.

The deputy arrested the mother-daughter duo for assaulting one another and took them to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

A short time later, the deputy found Raithel’s brother, arrested him, and also took him to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Raithel is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Bond was set at $25,000.

Wilkerson and Vanwinkle were each charged with Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Their bonds were set at $1,500.

All three posted bond.
