Local man charged with aggravated battery, robbery after bar fight

A deputy of the Jackson County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Office witnessed a disturbance on the parking lot of VanZandt’s Tavern just before 3:45 Sunday morning. It’s located in the 100 block of Union Avenue in Dowell. 

It was learned that a man, later identified as Tony Feggins, had grabbed money from two different men while inside the bar. One of the men attempted to stop Feggins. Feggins then struck the man in the face causing a minor laceration.

Feggins was seen entering a vehicle and leaving the parking lot. Witnesses were able to point the vehicle out, and deputies were able to locate and stop it. Feggins was found inside the vehicle and was later identified by witnesses.

Feggins is being held in the Jackson County Jail and is being charged with aggravated battery and robbery.
