Christmas in the Park brings in record number of donations

Local food pantries will be able to fed more people thanks to a very successful Christmas in the Park.

Paducah Power System said the event raised a record amount of donations this year.

The annual light display generated 74,235 pounds of food and $40,043. The previous record for food donations was 69,134 pounds in 2011. The most money previously collected in a single season was $38,218 in 2010.

The donations were gathered through three activities: the lighting displays at Noble Park, Stuff-The-Truck in early December, and the School Challenge.

The donations will be divided among the Paducah Ministry, the Salvation Army, Family Service Society, and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
