Rare halos shot

Sometimes, you just happen to be at the right place at the right time.

A Texas photographer was in position last Friday to capture an extremely rare shot.

This incredible rare photo from Red River, New Mexico shows one of the most incredible displays of atmospheric optics that you’ll ever see.

The halos are caused by refraction, or bending of light through tiny ice crystals in the atmosphere.

There are a total of nine different optical phenomena taking place in the photo.
