Kentucky summer food program in need of sponsors

A summer program that helps feed children is in need of sponsors.

The Kentucky Department of Education says sponsors are needed to serve meals for the 2015 Summer Food Service Program.

The program provides meals free of charge to children under 18 from May until September when schools are not in session.

Those who can be trained to serve meals include school districts, non-profit organizations, and government entities.

To be eligible, sponsors must:
– Provide continuing service to the community
– Serve meals to children in eligible areas or to groups of designated eligible children
– Show they are financially and administratively capable of operating the program

All sponsors who take part in the program will be reimbursed for all eligible meals served.

For more information on the program, call Mike Sullivan at (502) 564-5625 ext. 4930.
