Federal grant to help displaced PGDP workers

Kentucky lawmakers have helped secure a grant that will help displaced workers of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

The nearly $4.6 million grant will provide reemployment and training to 875 individuals impacted by the closure of the plant.

The grant will also help 80 workers affected by the layoffs at GE Aviation in Madisonville.

The West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board is the recipient of the grant.

Both Senator Mitch McConnell and U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield said they helped encouraged the U.S. Department of Labor to approve the federal grant.
