Pickup truck crash kills driver, seriously injures passenger

Kentucky State Police are investigating a pickup truck crash that killed one and seriously injured another.

The crash happened on KY453 in Livingston County just before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Troopers say a white pickup truck left the road, hit a culvert, became airborne, and hit a tree before coming to a stop off the road.

The driver of the pickup, 25-year-old Shawnna Murray of Marion was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, 31-year-old Heath Coursey of Salem was airlifted to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was last reported in serious condition.

According to the preliminary investigation and witnesses, the pickup was driving at a high rate of speed and overtook another vehicle on a curve before it crashed.

Troopers say alcohol is being considered as a possible factor in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
