Local musician invited to Grammys

A local musician is gaining global recognition for his new-age contemporary instrumental style.

Kevin Lucas from Pamona, Illinois has been invited to play his music at a red carpet event at the Grammys.

“I really like the natural earthy tones to this music,” said Lucas.

He hopes his music appeals to all ages.

He loves sharing his sounds with the elderly and travels around local nursing homes to play for them.

“We just put them in nursing homes and forget about them so I just think it’s really important to reach out to them,” said Lucas.

Lucas has been on the path toward a Grammy nomination for years, but it has not happened quite yet.

“My music really caught on with a lot of voters and got really popular,” said Lucas.

He has high hopes for next year, especially after landing such a big gig in Los Angeles.

Lucas will perform at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles.
