Association wants to change local courthouse name

The federal courthouse in downtown Paducah could soon bear a new name.

The McCracken County Bar Association is supporting efforts to rename the building in honor of Edward H. Johnstone.

He was a federal judge in the western district of Kentucky for more than 30 years. Johnstone passed away in 2013.

The McCracken County Bar Association credits his humility, compassion, courage, fairness, and work ethic.

It would take a joint act of the U.S. Congress to change the name.
