Crews pre-treating roads for possible snow and ice next week

Kentucky highways crews will be out pre-treating roads on Thursday and Friday in preparation for possible snow and ice next week.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they need to put down the brine now because cold weather will prohibit pre-treating on Monday.

Brine cannot be applied when temperatures are below 20 degrees because it can freeze on the roads and cause slick spots.

Crews are hoping to finish all pre-treating by the end of Friday.
