Never too late to make friends

Valentines Day is just days away so we’re reminding you, you’re never too old to make new friends or even find that significant other. You just have to be a little more social.

If you’re that senior citizen who wants to be more active, make friends, and stay sharp, head to your local Senior Center. In McCracken County activities include billiards, card games, ballroom and country line dancing, exercise classes, and a $2 lunch every day.

Director Guelda Wooldridge says the center is open to those 60 and older and they even take trips together. They’ve been on 3 Caribbean cruises, and plan regular bus trips to places like Washington, DC, Austin, TX, Florida and Chicago. She says no matter where you live, your local senior center is where you can regroup after moving to a new city, where you can make new friends, even meet that “special” someone to share your life with.

Donna and Phil Wallace come to the center every day to play cards or pool. In fact, their first date was at the senior center. Phil treated Donna to the $2 lunch. They fell in love and the rest is history. They’ve been married seven years now.
