KSP Arrests Paducah Man on Murder Charge

The Kentucky State Police responded to a call of a gunshot victim today at 11:20 A.M. from a residence on Oldham Road in Ballard County.   John M. Pennebaker 64, of Barlow, was transported to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY where he later died from a single gunshot wound.

During the investigation, KSP learned that Brandon L. Dunnagan, AKA Brandon Merrill, 18, of Paducah had been involved in a family dispute at the residence.  Dunnagan shot Pennebaker during the dispute and fled the residence.  Dunnagan was detained by Troopers within an hour of the incident. 

Dunnagan has been lodged in the Ballard County Jail and charged with Murder, Burglary 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Tampering with physical Evidence.

KSP was assisted by the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ballard County EMS.  Kentucky State Police Detective Trevor Pervine continues his investigation.
