Sheriff to hold public meeting on pet thefts

After a series of recent concerns from dog owners about pet thefts, McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden plans to hold a public meeting Monday night.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30pm at the McCracken County Courthouse.

In a Facebook post on the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department page, Sheriff Hayden says:

We will have a meeting in hopes of garnering as much information as possible as to what is being reported. Those with information are encouraged to attend. We will invite law enforcement officials from Marshall, Ballard, Calloway, Hickman, Carlisle, Graves, and Livingston Counties to attend, as well as the Kentucky State Police. Having one centralized meeting with interested persons may be the best way of disseminating the pertinent information to the appropriate law enforcement agency within your local jurisdiction.

We will make someone available also to take your information privately if you wish.

Please encourage those that you may know that has information about the reported pet thefts or dog fighting to attend this meeting. Once arriving at the courthouse, a deputy sheriff will be on hand to direct you to the meeting location within the courthouse.
