Pennyrile Parkway back open to traffic after semi crash

UPDATE: The southbound lanes of the Pennyrile Parkway are open to traffic.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says there will likely be a lane restriction later in the day after the rain stops to clean up the median. The truck was carrying grocery items.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Kentucky Transportation cabinet reports lane closures along the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway because of a semi crash. The closures affect southbound lanes at the US 68 Exit 9 interchange at Hopkinsville in Christian County.

The crash ripped open the trailer. Cargo is scattered along the road. The cleanup could be extensive.

If you or someone you know needs to travel that portion of the Parkway today this morning, you can detour along US 68 east or west and connect to US 41 of the US 68 bypass. That will reconnect you the Parkway.

This could affect traffic for the next 4 to 6 hours.
