Local disabled woman looking for help in her journey to walk again

A local woman is looking for some help to stand on her own two feet again. Anndrea Coffman was thrown off of a horse almost 15 years ago. Since then, she’s been in a wheelchair. She now has the chance to walk again, but it’s going to take a lot of work and a little generosity.

Based on the sound of it, you’d never know Anndrea Coffman is using laughter to soothe her symptoms. “If you can find the humor in something, it’s the way I get through. It’s the way I’ve always gotten through it,” she said. She’s spent 14 years in a wheelchair, but her coworkers at Hannan Supply said her attitude is what they notice most.

“Her personality is so upbeat and bubbly. It really just makes other people feel good,” said Hannah Supply President Bruce Brockenborough. He thinks that’s is why Anndrea deserves the opportunity to walk again.

Her friends, family, and coworkers have donated almost $3,000 to a GoFundMe account created to help her pay for four months of intensive therapy at Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville. “After the 16 weeks, they think I can retrain my muscles,” she said.

It’s an experience Anndrea said she’s been sitting, waiting, and wishing for. “I’d always had the hope, but I’ve always said that if I was to walk again it would be God’s timing.” She holds on to a positive outlook. “I wouldn’t go back and change it if I had the opportunity to go back,” she said, although she’s looking forward to an opportunity to move forward.

Anndrea’s fund raising goal is $15,000. That would cover travel expenses, room and board, and four months of therapy in Louisville.
