KSP investigating officer involved shooting in Carlisle County

Kentucky State Police say they are investigating a shooting involving a police officer.

Trooper First Class Jay Thomas say Bardwell Police Chief Brandon Marbry was investigating a stolen vehicle complaint Thursday morning when he found a vehicle matching the description at a home on West Court Street in Bardwell.

Marbry left his car and approached the other vehicle, which began to back out of the driveway. He then ordered the driver inside, 29-year-old Daniel Hauger of Cunningham, to exit the vehicle.

Hauger allegedly ignored the commands and drove the vehicle into the path of Marbry. That is when Marbry fired his gun, hitting Hauger in the leg.

Hauger continued driving and Marbry gave chase, arresting Hauger a short time later.

Hauger has been charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer and Fleeing and Evading Police.

He was released from the hospital and lodged in the Ballard County Jail.

An investigation by Kentucky State Police is underway.
