KCTCS students to pay same tuition for next school year
A planned tuition increase in Kentucky’s community and technical college system has been canceled.
The decision announced Friday by the system’s Board of Regents means students will pay the same amount for tuition in the next academic year.
The board had previously approved a $3-per-credit-hour tuition increase for in-state KCTCS students for the 2015-16 academic term. The regents on Friday revised the 2015-16 tuition rates to keep them the same as current rates.
The board’s action means tuition will remain at $147 per credit hour rate for in-state students, $294 per credit hour rate for out-of-state students from counties contiguous to Kentucky and $515 for all other out-of-state students.
KCTCS Regents Chairman P.G. Peeples says the board’s action recognizes that tuition remains one of the biggest barriers to students pursuing postsecondary education.
