The Dorena-Hickman ferry is expected to shut down at the end of normal service Friday night due to rising floodwaters in the Mississippi river.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says overnight the river is expected to rise to where it will block access to the ferry landing.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will announce when the ferry is back in service.
