Police cruiser involved in crash

A Paducah Police cruiser was involved in a crash on Thursday.

Sergeant William Gilbert with the Paducah Police Department says he was driving west on Clay Street with his emergency lights on when he stopped at a stop sign at Joe Clifton Drive.

Gilbert says he saw a north-bound vehicle stop for him and he began to turn left onto Joe Clifton Drive.

He says he didn’t see another vehicle, also driving north, and he hit it broadside on the passenger side.

The driver of the second vehicle says she saw Gilbert’s emergency lights and attempted to stop, but could not avoid the crash.
