Local businesses targets of hoax calls
Paducah police say local businesses should be on alert for hoax telephone calls.
Several businesses told police Thursday morning that they had received a call from a person who claimed to be an official with the Paducah Fire Department.
The caller apparently tried to cause alarm at the businesses.
Paducah Fire Chief Steve Kyle says if a safety check or inspection is needed, fire officials will contact businesses in person and will provide proper identification.
Detectives are asking that anyone who receives such a call to contact the police department immediately at (270) 444-8550.
