What the Tech: Apple Watch

Get ready to wait if you want this year’s most talked about gadget. Apple begins taking orders for the Apple Watch later this week.

Some folks have waited about seven months, but this coming weekend people will finally be able to fork over hundreds of dollars for a wristwatch from Apple.

And if you want an Apple Watch, you better set your alarm clock Friday. Apple is announcing it will begin taking preorders at 12:01 a.m., pacific time. That’s 2 a.m. our time.

All the preorders will be taken online, and you’ll have to pay for the watch then. Folks who order it Friday can have Apple ship it to them on April 24, or reserve one for pickup at an Apple Store.

Unlike iPhones and tablets, the Apple Watch won’t be for sale anywhere else.

For the first time in this country, a man has been thrown in jail for running a ‘revengeporn’ website. Kevin Bollaert hosted UGotposted.com, where people uploaded photos of other people, many of them naked. They were generally posted by others as a way to get revenge. Most of the photos were taken by the victims and shared via texts or Snapchat.

Bollaert was sentenced to 18 years in jail. The website has been taken down.

A cautionary tale, if you take nude photos with your phone, they’ll likely show up somewhere for everyone to see.
