Area man drowns near KY Dam Marina

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.

We now know the name of the man that was found in Kentucky Lake.  Marshall County Coroner Barry Taylor says 68-year-old Grandille Joe Thomas may have drowned.  Thomas is from Carlisle County. Taylor won’t reveal the cause of death until toxicology reports come back, but he doesn’t suspect foul play.

The Marshall County Rescue Squad says they have recovered the body of an elderly man who drowned in Kentucky Lake.

Witnesses at the Kentucky Dam Marina say he was on a boat around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday when his chair broke, sending him off the back end and into the water.

Marshall County Rescue Squad Chief Curt Curtner says they found the man’s body around 12:45 early Sunday morning. The Marshall County Coroner is working to identify the body and details as to how he died.
His identity has not been released.
