Grand Jury indicts Mikulich

A Marshall County man accused of killing his 6-month-old son could face a life sentence.

The Marshall County Circuit Clerk’s Office tells Local 6 the grand jury indicted John Mikulich on six charges including wanton murder and drug possession. Police arrested Mikulich in March after they say they found the child in a bathtub.

The baby was taken to the Marshall County Hospital and later flown to Kosairs Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The child died about a week later in the hospital.

In Local 6’s coverage of the preliminary hearing in March, we reported that autopsy results and hospital records showed the baby’s skull was fractured and his neck was bruised. At that time, defense attorney Jamie Jameson said “the injuries to the child could have happened a lot of ways, and actually did not have to occur that day. They could have occurred in the past.”

Mikulich’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 4.
