Member of SIU faculty arrested, facing charges

A member of the faculty at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale is facing charges after an alleged fight with a student.

The university’s crime log shows Alan Weston, an associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes Department, posted bond after his arrest last Thursday.

Campus police say the 22-year-old student did not require medical attention.

The case has been turned over to the Jackson County State’s Attorney.
