Murphysboro man sentenced to prison for sexual abuse of a minor

A Murphysboro man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual abusing a minor.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr says 31-year-old Jerry Williams had sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 17.

Both the girl and Williams admitted to having intercourse.

Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and will serve four years of mandatory supervised release upon his release.
