Police looking for kidnapping suspect

Officers of the Martin Police Department continue to investigate the aggravated kidnapping of two individuals early Saturday morning.

Approximately 3:30 am on Saturday morning officers responded to the area of Lindell St. when notified by dispatch that a Weakley County deputy was in pursuit of an individual who had just assaulted two subjects.

Officers learned that 25 year old Derrick Nicholson of Meridian Mississippi had kicked the door in on the 300 block of Raven St. and assaulted, then kidnapped a female and her daughter at knife point.

The two victims were able to escape Nicholson on Church St. and flag down Weakley County Sergeant Danny Browning. Sgt. Browning pursued the vehicle to Summer St. where it crashed, hitting a residence on Summer St. When officers arrived, Nicholson had fled on foot.

A search of the area was unsuccessful and officers continue to search for Nicholson.

Nicholson is a black male, approximately 5’11” tall, weighing approximately 200-210 lbs, bald headed, last seen wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, and blue house shoes.

Charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, aggravated burglary, theft of property, and vandalism are pending against Nicholson.

If anyone sees this individual please contact Martin Police immediately.
